What is boule silicon?

Boule silicon is a high-purity polycrystalline silicon used in the production of integrated circuits and other electronics. It is made through a process called the Czochralski technique, which involves melting highly pure silicon in a crucible and slowly drawing a single crystal boule out of the melted silicon. This process results in a very high-purity silicon with few impurities, making it ideal for use in microelectronics. Boule silicon is extremely brittle and must be cut and shaped carefully to prevent it from cracking or breaking. It is the most widely used material for the production of semiconductors and microchips and plays a critical role in the electronics industry.
